Regret, of losing what you had

I lost a diamond,
picking up rusty metals
an empty space next to me
my heart, so hollow and void
a silent plea, unspoken thoughts
maybe i should have let you in
gone away, said to find love
yet i lost it
the nerve to tell you i was there
to breakdown and be free
now a constant image of your face
memories we once shared
gone down the drain.....
