Drowning in the Sea

Drowning in the Sea

A Poem by Miles Wilburn
"

Just pondering

"
You chain me to a word
Begins with L and ends with E
A chain that wraps around my feet
and cast me in the sea

Falling deep beneath
into blueish green
and I
I spot the undergrowth of fears
of many years of waste

The litter of love
that tangles in my toes and constricts my feet
the simple message, a shipwrecks song
warns me of drowning deep

And I begin to struggle, have I gone too deep to leave?
I love to love, and hate this life
a lie, a fake, stuck in place
so deep, so deep, I descend

The green turns to blue
The blue turns to black
the black turns into white
as I begin to die
as I begin to die

My last thoughts as I can't breathe
are more of a dream where

I walk the sands
and explore the lands
and fruits of other trees

I my wiggle toes inside the sand
and look behind and see
the sun smiling down at me

and then I go to sleep
a soft eternal sleep
drowning in the sea
