INVITATION

INVITATION

A Poem by Betty Hermelee
"

sometimes the cosmos knows when one is in need

"

INVITATION

In a dark vein

I stroll along the beach

Near the bubbles at sea’s edge

Water lucid and calm as a lake

Placid night, save for a seagull’s flap

To ease my humor

Clouds luminous by the moon’s blush

I sit in yoga posture

Spread the textured sand

amidst my fingers

My neck stretches high

I shall purify my mind

Of sad notions

Surprisingly I sense pulses of fiery heat

Upon my shoulders and to the rear

Fear it may be a beast

I gaze up to see the moon

Burst from the clouds

Perhaps an invitation to me

To shroud me in his warmth

Engross me in his mirth

Declaim my sulk

I unfold my appreciation

He vanishes

The shimmering stars concur

Vivid imagery in this one. It almost places you at the scene. The part where the moon bursts from the clouds very effectively conveys the cessation of a mood of sadness.

Totally mesmeric, Betty. The beach offers us serenity and solace, all that emanates from the presentation of your words. Great photography, too. Loved it!

the opening two lines of this gem will sit with me for a long spell I think. Great metaphor that opens the mind to so many wonderful possibilities of thoughts. The rest of the poem was a fabulous stroll along.
"purify my mind of sad notions" another killer image.

love my visit as always friend

The moon has a way of soothing many things that may bother us. It's soft light on a vacuous evening fills the void with warmth and feeling, allows us to breathe and not feel so alone while doing so. I loved this Betty, so very calming and comforting.

Sometimes the cosmos knows when one is in need and sometimes it likes to be a tease, but on such a lovely setting as a beach, with waves gently lapping, the possibility of its jackpot paying out can seduce even an innocent.... So I'm told 😊
