Darling of the Night

Darling of the Night

A Poem by Betty Hermelee
"

a beautiful creature of nature

"

Blue satin trimmed with white linen

centerpiece of yellow crepe

her dress, eye-catching

She is fragile

slumbers through the broiling sun

and commotion surrounding

tucks herself from within through the day

fears the brightness

lays still and dreams

of what the cosmos shall convey after dusk

In the dark she is in her finest

stars blink at her

moon smiles

planets gaze

she beguiles those who thrive

on her sweet skin savor

Her colors captivate

night owls screech with gratitude

wolves howl at her comeliness

she muses about floating on a cloud

touching the moon

dancing with a star

Then when daybreak arouses

she curls up into a splendid globe

and attempts to disguise

under a cloudless sky

the Primrose

darling of the night

I imagine the time when the globe on my table has a generated, real-time duplicate of current weather displayed across the blue and white marble it is. Maybe folks would see the world through kinder eyes.

You have a special ability to use language as if your own: your words here are stunning yet gentle.. thus, beautiful. Let primroses run wide, let there colour be seen and life will be full of true gold! Thank you, thank you for sharing - from a primrose fanatic!
