SHARON

SHARON

A Poem by Betty Hermelee
"

tribute to a rebel

"

You were a rebel and an advocate for so long

I followed your bravery, step by step

and admired your courage leap by leap

not a thing clogged your ability to pursue

you lived for your creativity

and shared out your result

you collected splendid pieces of art

more importantly you lived art

with your stunning paintings

and quilts

your compositions were exceptional

you partitioned your life

so that we all got equal time

your children, your brothers, your grandchildren

and me

To me your battle was long and agonizing

yet not by any means did you grumble

your voice was weak

yet you showed affection in many ways

your smile was still there

and you kept that pugnacity

until you could speak no more

could not bear another breath

death came serenely

I read this heartfelt tribute with the thought that how important it is to treasure our loved ones while they are here. In the end, just beautiful memories remain. Those virtues, endearing quirks and habits and the precious essence of a lost loved one. I feel both your pain and your love for Sharon, dear Betty and I also feel your gratitude for the blessing of her existence. It makes me think that this is the only true gain of our fleeting existence.
Sending you much love,
❤️

Our lives are punctuated by those we leave behind. All that Sharon was will continue to live in you, as well as the material things, like her paintings and quilts, but most importantly, her family. Look to the sky and see the sun setting among pillowed clouds in the early evening, and take comfort in knowing, she is home! My deepest sympathy for your loss, Betty!

I love poetries that brings contrast.
She is a rebel yet she is kind humble loving which Is often ignored. It is always overlooked and she is portrayed as someone with less of a heart. But in reality the ones who never understood her were the most depressing and heartless.
I don't know what I am writing. This has unfolded a series of thoughts and events of my life. I loved the piece
