We all shy from the novel even if it is joyous. Preferring the familiar even should it be more drab and mundane. A lovely write Betty reminding us that there is too much of a good thing

you've really uncorked this one. i've often felt the same way about the holidays - a temporary, artificial high like a drug addict's fix ... and then the inevitable crash. perhaps the holidays only serve to remind us of how desperate we all are. you've really hit this nail on the head. i felt this. well done.

Nice Work B. For me personally, the Winter Solstice and 'the Return of the Light' (as we call it in Reiki) is bigger than Xmas Day itself. Still both of these December Events are cause for celebration. I enjoyed yr take on this, really Excellent ✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️
We would all want family and loved ones to be with us at the holidays, so it's quite sad when that doesn't occur. The military had me experiencing that lonely time on several occasions, so I know the feeling too well. As another mentioned, we older folks are especially susceptible, as children and other loved ones are out of reach for one reason or another. My hope is that you had a wonderful Christmas, and that the new year will bring you nothing but good things.

This captures the quiet ache that can linger during the holidays so well. I appreciate how you explore solitude and introspection without judgment — very relatable and tenderly written.

Wow never in a dark place, but I hope I'm free from not holding light in what I believe but allows I'm not blind in where I step, but it does make think where I place my foot before one is lossed.
Thank you for sharing.

My love of poetry results from my love of art. As a painter I am able to express myself on a canvas. As a poet my words come from my heart, my moods, sometimes sad, mostly upbeat. I like to use vivid .. more..
