PREMONITION

PREMONITION

A Poem by Betty Hermelee

anticipation,fear

PREMONITION

We sense something notable

yet the reality remains obscure

we can surmise but mother nature is stubborn and unpredictable

leaves us suspended, even haunted as to our suspicions

We prepare for the worst

darkness may prey upon us

we maneuver with forethought

dread all potentials that could transpire

our pulses race in anticipation

Could this be the destruction of all that we retain?

we lean on each other for hope, comfort, support and strength

When shall we behold the light on the other side?

only mother nature knows

I do believe dear Betty. Our mind and body warned us to be careful. I have been too logical. My Army training. Always have an escape route. I enjoyed your words and thoughts. Made the reader ponder and think. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

This feels like South Florida when a hurricane is coming our way. We prepare and worry and sometimes that is for the best. Mother Nature seems to have an agenda...and she will punish those who do not prepare! I like this one a lot, Betty. Lydi***

Always a pleasure to see you!
You do a good job of capturing the state of anticipation and fear here Betty..:)

And yes, we're none of us in control as much as we'd like to think...!

I liked the ending...

When shall we behold the light on the other side?
only mother nature knows

I suppose this poem could be a multipurpose statement. I do see danger in many forms on the horizon being we are living in a fragile time.

There’s grit in your waiting, a patience forged in shadow—your words hum with the tension of storms, and yet the trust between lines gives it warmth.

I don't know if premonitions are real or not. Many do believe in them. I think it can be very easy to spook yourself by dwelling on possible eventualities. Better to dwell upon the positive.

Premonitions such an interesting topic, some believe them divine, others magic, yet others feel they are genetically passed down as survival knowledge. Well written Betty it talks to me.

You are most welcome Betty

Sometimes we human beings forget that there is a reason for having a day after a day etc and that is to to treat each moment of every day as both privilege plus a spiritual and magical gift. Perhaps, maybe - it depends on how we think and how we want to feel. As frequently, you inspire thought to travel this way and that so as to sift personal maybes to definite ones. Perhaps!
