'THE BLOB'
Betty Hermelee,
This lighthearted writing gave a sense of adventure. I liked the freedom to simply go with what you wanted to do. Yes, childhood is part of who we are, and memories are to be treasured then and now. I liked your little story very much!!
Blessings to you.

I think there are many things from childhood that still work for us now. Everybody always thinks we have to grow out of things....I ask friends my age about certain pop music from the sixties..."Do like such and such?" "Oh, yes, I used to love that group or that song when I was a kid"---almost like they were supposed to grow out of liking it...I never did.
Your title brought me back to the movie with Steve McQueen...which I still get a kick out of.
Memories can be current daydreams and current realities.

There are some childhood memories that bring so much comfort. When you find them you just want to hold them tight. Your pillow poem is a perfect example. I say buy what you like and what makes you feel good Betty. Forget the rest. Enjoy your pillows. Have a great week dear poet. 🌹

Great poem Betty. I grew up poor. I had one pillow for sleeping, a down-filled old thing passed down from the farmer grandparents, possibly even homemade. If not the original, I have an identical pillow I have slept on for decades. I love that pillow. It is truly ancient. But now, elderly like you, I have supplemental pillows for my knees, an arm. Pillows in all shapes and sizes. Oh the joys of getting old.

The joys of childhood memories. I wanted to hug the blob after reading. I don't know if you intended it as such but how you end this with "when...", makes me feel you can just loop this sweet memory over and over if you want. Thanks for this written hug.

I don't know, B. I recall a movie from my youth called "The Blob," which was the tale of an extraterrestrial being who was a huge blob of matter who went about absorbing earthlings. I wouldn't want a pillow reminding me of that. Sleep is too precious.

Betty, when I first saw the title. I thought I had to read this horror poem. Then, to my chagrin, it was about pillows. No nightmares tonight.....' whew', smiling. You can never have enough pillows, especially ones that remind you of your childhood. Nice read, Betty!
Randall...
P.S. Do you remember the 1958 Blob movie, Steve McQueen, and Aneta Cosaut?

My love of poetry results from my love of art. As a painter I am able to express myself on a canvas. As a poet my words come from my heart, my moods, sometimes sad, mostly upbeat. I like to use vivid .. more..
