Beneath the old oak tree

Beneath the old oak tree

A Poem by Laura Lynn

The old oak tree had been there twenty
Runes higher, keeping its secrets hidden.
On weekends, it waited for shepherds,
Nerds too.  The romance had been beaten
Courteously out of it. Lovers
Accepted its shade as curtains taking
Retrospective glances back, not confused,
Entangling one another in ruses.

I love the way a single thing as simple as a tree can unite so many different people in a world meant to single us all out and keep us separated.

Wonderful work, the imagery was spectacular, I truly got the image of the oak tree and the different people who passed beneath it, the word choice was sublime. I will definitely be reading more of your writing. thanks for sharing :)

Ur Welcome
Thought it was beautiful. The imagery was quite vivid (like Nerds too) - Lovers accepted its shade as curtains...it's very nice. Thank you.
