The Faceless Man

The Faceless Man

A Poem by Lovecraft
"

This is about Identity or a lack thereof. Also a fear of strangers, people you don't know.

"
The Man with no Face sat across from me,
Face blurry and wavering in reality.
I bit back my anxiety and looked away.

Try as I might, I couldn't help it.
Staring at his face, not knowing.

His face shimmered wildly, violently.
Panic rose within my soul,
But still I could not move.

I glanced about myself,
But no one were present.

The Man with no Face stood up,
Approaching me with malign purpose.
There was no escaping his gaze.

Reluctantly I met that gaze,
Feeling a creeping doom arrive.

My vision grew black as night
And I could see no more.
He had consumed my very essence.

I fell into sweet Nothingness.

I know it's not very good, would appreciate tips on how I should improve it.

maybe you can somehow put in that the faceless man after consuming him, for what i am assuming showing fear. The faceless man became him and was no longer faceless. just a thought. I really loved this.
