X and Y

X and Y

A Poem by Blake Q Hatfield

The battle of the sexes
All the way back to Adam and Lillith
To the way we go about it today
We get so caught up in this senseless war
And it goes on… ‘Cause we kinda like it

We start out by looking at the differences
As we look into each others eyes
The strong hand to the gentle touch
But soon we begin to find
The war lines will blend
When they find their flower or bee of love

To theories on gods
To just belief in a big universal feeling
To those who believe there’s nothing at all
They all firmly believe
There’s someone out there
On earth or elsewhere
Just quite perfect for them

Mankind has tried and tried
To build a super perfect being
Well I say why mess with Mother Nature
‘Cause she knows what she’s doing
Just give her a little Father Time
And your knightly prince or princess bride
Will appear just around the corner
