If we were never really here.

Sparked by a conversation I had a few weeks ago, it's just a short poem that holds a bit of significance for me.

If we were never really here, 

would the ghosts of our memories protest at the loss

of a future?

Those to be born, 

stripped of everything but that which, 

they will never get to hold.
