Je Ne T`ai Pas Reconnu

Je Ne T`ai Pas Reconnu

A Poem by Bonnie Paige

I said, I would love you forever.
I said, you were the breath of living air that brought sparks to life again.
I said, I would never forget the wind beneath my freedom flight.
I said, yes I would always remember your laughing, playful, jovial manner.

Like a quarterback you aimed for my wide open spaces to make your touchdown.
I said, yes to the music in your head.
I said, yes to the dances everywhere.
I said, yes! Shall we kiss again?

It was time that passed some thirty years or so. You finally reappeared.
I said, no it isn't you, no rosy cheeks, nor sparkling eyes of blue.
I said, no to your hair that was so silky, golden smooth.
I said, no! I now knew I always had loved another.
Today I didn't even recognize the lover I would've loved forever.

Shows how naive, perhaps shallow we are as youngsters when it comes to looks :)
Loved the part of your reply to Julie when you write... "We are given the face of beauty in youth, and the face we deserve in old age"
That's brilliant, a poem waiting to be written.
Good morning, hope you are well

I said these words a few times.
"I said, I would love you forever.
I said, you were the breath of living air that brought sparks to life again.
I said, I would never forget the wind beneath my freedom flight.
I said, yes I would always remember your laughing, playful, jovial manner."
The above lines. Sweet memories, in time, we do appreciate. Thank you dear Bonnie for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

What sadness here.,what memories to have looked back on for all that time. But then perhaps if you'd been together, the changes might not have been so extreme. This is such an emotional poem, each time read, the words seem to mean more and more.
