Emberlight

Emberlight

A Poem by Curly Grace

In the hollow of night,
I call for you,
my fire untamed.

Every sigh,
every shiver,
bends to your name,
my fire untamed.

My hands map
the secret geography of your skin,
 tracing curves
where shadow and light softly claim,
my fire untamed.

I drift in the pulse
between breath and warmth,
 lost in the ache
that rises into a gentle flame,
my fire untamed.

Your lips teach
the language my tongue almost forgot,
 each kiss a prayer,
 a pause,
 a sacred game,
my fire untamed.

I stand open
before the storm of your gaze,
 soul and body folding
into a single frame,
my fire untamed.

Let the world burn outside
while we unravel within,
 every tremor,
 every whisper,
 illuminated,
my fire untamed.

The refrain in this piece gives an incantatory feel to the work, a chanting. There is a sense of magic at play. Exceptional ✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️

Every stanza is a powerful statement. I'd be pretty affected if a women wrote this to me. Nice writing, Sarah.

Thank you, Relic.
I’m grateful the stanzas carried their heat to you.
BISMILLAH: Centuries ago, out of the flowering of Islam and of Sufism, much of its greatest poetry was written. Certain poets were charged with blasphemy; frequently the poetry seemed erotic in nature, seemed to speak of physical love, of a woman’s physical beauty. Ishq Allah, mabud Allah. God is the Lover and the Beloved. The poets were speaking of God, Allah, the Creator through metaphor. There were layers of meaning. This poem, for me, opens with an expression of deep love and longing for the Creator. Much of the poem can be read two ways. Often a poem is exactly what the reader brings and contributes. It’s written beautifully, truly.

As I read this, REM plays Talk about the Passion. Nice work here.
