Thin Places

Thin Places

A Poem by Curly Grace

Your message moves
through a thin place
that secret seam
where breath slides over memory,
where meaning quivers against skin.

If the poem honors you,
it is because something in your presence
woke the words like fire beneath water,
tracing the curve of a pulse,
the hollow of desire.

Some connections do not speak
they shiver at the edge of sense,
felt between heartbeats,
between what is said
and what aches
to be written.

This probably is irrelevant to your poem, but it made me think of Smaug the dragon from the JRR Tolkien universe. I didn't particularly like what they did with the Hobbit but the second movie, how they portrayed Smaug... it was very nice. Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumber-such performed an amazing feat given that... it was all pretty much cgi. I've been eating a lot of thc infused products this evening so please forgive me if I don't make any sense. (i can't always tell when i'm making non sense)... I think I was connecting the feeling of something felt so fundamentally that it becomes like a sense... I'm really high, please forgive me. I'm not trying to sound nonsensical

That's deep! Or at least it is to me.
But I also read from comments below that tequila may have contributed to this. I haven't had tequila in over 30 years, but if I recall properly, the state of euphoria this poem is putting me in may be rather similar to that experience. But anyway. I love this, and I feel wrapped up in it.

This poem is very clever, and has sensual undertones...

I liked the idea of thin places...it conjures up imagery in the reader's mind for sure....

These were my favourite lines:

it is because something in your presence
woke the words like fire beneath water,
tracing the curve of a pulse,
the hollow of desire.

There's a flirtatiousness to your writing and it comes out nicely here.

Thank you, Kenneth.
I’m glad the softer currents in the piece reached you.
Wow, that secret seam...it is a place in most of us, but only a chosen few can put it into words like this.
The ache was certainly assuaged with this excellent piece.
