Unbutton Me

Unbutton Me

A Poem by Curly Grace

Unbutton me
slowly-
not because you must,
but because you enjoy the undoing.

Let your fingers linger
at each clasp,
as if patience
were a kind of hunger
and you've decided-
to feast on anticipation.

Pull the fabric aside
like a curtain
revealing something sacred.

Let your mouth follow
the path your hands started-
down my throat,
across my collarbone,
lower,
lower,
to the heat that rises
just for you.

I want you to explore me
like a man discovering
his favorite sin.

I want you to make a map
of my reactions-
the gasp,
the ache,
the low sound I only make
when I'm touched
just right.

unbutton me.
until there is nothing between
your hunger and mine.

Thank you, Trace. That’s really kind of you to say. I’m glad the piece landed that way for you.
Curly,
It is amazing that poetry is such a well-kept secret in the twenty-first century. This poem ought to wake everybody up to what it is like to walk in the presence of beauty, to know that when you read, whole worlds are created, quests are won, and happiness sports muscles. Maybe I said something recently about a poetry reading in Nashville. I always offered my students extra credit if they attended, and even more if they would read. Usually, I'd have three or four. Then I got a class obsessed with their GPA... ALL of the rabid! So on that one night, twenty-something of them showed up, most with their parents. and much to the diamay of my friends..."Vol, It's EROTICA NIGHT!" And let me tell you, those little old ladies were GRAPHIC! It was an anatomy class with hot sauce and spice, and bodily fluids thrown in. I thought I would be fired... but the only thing that happened was, ALL the readings for the rest of the year were well attended, indeed. We all know sex sells, so if we did enough good, juicy poems we might save poetry itself!

An amazing dance of words dear poet. You took me back to my days of love. Knowing love should be gentle, fun and a memory to keep. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

Thank you, Coyote… I’m glad the piece brought back something meaningful for you.
This is just gorgeous! I wish I could share these sentiments with my special someone.
But we'll never meet and to edge us both with this would be painful.
What beautifully sensual poetics!

Thanks. You have reinforced my contention that the best erotica contains no vulgarities.

There is such heat in this, yet done in such a tasteful and classy way. The reader is unbuttoning the theme as the words move his or her fingers.
