Unmasked Light

Unmasked Light

A Poem by Curly Grace

In the quiet of my heart,
I pause.
The masks I have worn
loosen,
falling into the still air.

Charm drifts.
Beauty fades.
Applause dissolves.
What remains
is the self God has known all along.

I feel the gentle question:
Can this truest face
honor the Maker?
And in the stillness,
I hear the answer:
I am already cherished.

The world spins its web,
pulling me to perform, to please.
I step aside,
breathing into the pause,
and see the divine in the ordinary-
in scars, in quirks,
in shadows and light,
in every hidden corner of being.

To reveal this self
without concealment
is worship.
Each unguarded gesture,
each soft truth,
becomes a vessel
for something greater.

I stand,
still, attentive,
fashioned by God’s hand,
not for admiration,
but for sacredness.

And in this essence,
I am breath.
I am light.
I am enough.

This is a poem everyone should read for its sheer message of self-acceptance. You take us to places we too often find less than perfect in ourselves and you tell us that those imperfect parts of us are actually the most sacred. I've been often very ashamed of my past deeds, my sins and today, after reading this poem, I'm taking another, kinder look at myself. Perhaps, I am perfect in a sense and absolutely worth forgiveness and love.

To reveal this self
without concealment
is worship.

I'll remember your words. I am enough.

Thank you for the kind words.
This is a deeply reflective poem. There's a source within us we can all go to if we're connected. The world is a stage we perform on for others, but inside there's a quiet calm, a truth where the ego is put away, and surrender is peace.

Nice writing.
