Flicker

Flicker

A Poem by Curly Grace

Years
carved me hollow.

Your weight
pressed deep.

Our love
frayed
like a rope
stretched too far.

I reached for you
and found
only emptiness.

Your echoes
linger
pulling at my chest.

I am tired
of lifting them
of pretending
the ember I carry
can light
what’s lost.

I move
through shadows
warmth fading to ash.

Still trembling
still mine
thin
fragile
a faint pulse
pulling me forward
even as love
turns cold.

losing love is like losing a limb.... so painful, so debilitating, so empty.... and yet trying to hold on to a frayed rope is a lost cause...this is quite sad... "our love frayed like a rope stretched too far"... beautifully written
Warmly, B

This made me want to listen to a song called The Grudge by tool.

Are you a tool fan by any chance? Some of their music is outstanding. Some of it is not.

The love in this case must have been of a deep nature, because it has not yet faded, even though the relationship is now a thing of the past. I don't see it dying away completely, ever.

The Word I would use to describe this is loyalty. I see a loyal lover who is dedicated to a reunion. How very sweet.
