Adam, One

Adam, One

A Chapter by Bookie Bridges

I'm beginning to think that the people at this school are crazy.
"Oh come on! You're over reacting!" Daisy, whom I've learned isn't as recluse as I'd originally thought, whined.
"Why would that help her trust me!?" I argued as John and Matthue drag me to... wherever. My best friends were kidnapping me... Never saw that coming.
"Because Ellie thinks of her club as a second family. She trusts her family." Lillie stated sweetly while Monica followed, reading.
"I don't know the first thing about art! How the hell am I going to join an art club!?"
They shrug. "You guys are weird, first you kidnap me, then you take me to an art class so I can embarrass my self. A, not only is that absurd, but B, it's rude where I'm from." I mumble.
"Well here it's common. Don't sweat it, you'll get used to it." Matthue chuckles.
I can feel my face heat up. "Whatever..."
Eventually we stop in the Art 102 room. Or as I'm now calling it, my new real life hell. Not even the teacher is in here, so thankfully, no one will see my utter failings mislabeled art.
"Well at least no one's around, eh?" Matthue said, releasing me the same time Josh dropped me on my butt.
"You could have been a little gentle. Dang that hurt like hell..." I grumbled.
 Daisy helped me up.
"Thanks..." I mumbled, for the umpteenth time this evening.
"Hey, what are you kids doing here?"
We turn to see the art teacher and her art club.
"Our friend wants to join the art club." Monica says, not even bothering to look from whatever book she had in her hands.
I looked around the other students and saw Elise scribbling away on that white board of hers. The way her hair hung like black, velvety curtains, and the way her nose scrunched up in concentration seemed so unlike the harsh outer shell she'd shown me ever since I asked why she doesn't talk.
This caused me to miss what the teacher had said.
 "I'm sorry, what?" I asked, oh-so-coolly.
The teacher rolled her eyes and sighed. "I asked what type of art you excel in."
"O-oh... Um, well I guess photography." I scratched my cheek, a bit embarrassed.
At this Elise looked up at me, squinting in almost an accusing way. She showed me her board. It read, 'Well let's see some of it then.'
I swallowed. How hard could taking pictures be anyway, right?
