Dishonerable Discharge

Dishonerable Discharge

A Poem by Branden Thorne
"

This poem describes the thought process of a soldier in disagrrement with his purpose. In the midst of battle, this man is questioning his care for the situation he's in.

"

The contemplation of entropy is rather belittling to me
The back of these eyelids is where I’ll be
My battered soul tarnished
My once mended soul set aflame
Nestled warmly in red and purple trenches
Come and join us
Red and purple by our side
Remind me why I waste my days?
Counting each insidious blessing as I lay
My back against the mud, holding the power close to my chest
Anticipating the shrieking voice of a thousand casualties
A most pleasant sound indeed
Should I lament the loss of the fallen?
I hold great pity against my cowardice
Nestled warmly in red and purple trenches
