EarthquakeA Poem by BreadrunA poem about being buried from an earthquake, inspired by the recent quake in New ZealandHow could nature destroy my home Much like a wreck, it sets the tone The ground that shook, did dismay My world collapsed, the price to pay Darkness does my vision meet As I struggle, itchy feet Hoping they will find me soon Take me away, from this doom A minute seems a lifetime An hour filled with pain A day goes by, time does not fly My mind says goodbye I try and scream I’m here, I’m here But no voice does come out Can I hear, people so near? My mind filled with doubt As my hope fades away Thinking of this awful day This is my tomb, my realisation Here I lie in dust Knowing there’ll be no salvation Peace is now a must
