Chapter 4

I woke with a start what seemed like seconds later, but we were getting dragged outside.

 

All fifteen girls were awake now, and I didn’t recognize any faces, but I did recognize some of the faces in the crowd surrounding our school.

 

In fact I saw tons of police officers and all the other students in our school, safely on the other side of the police officers. It seemed the, gulp, vampires were making a deal. Why does my life’s hell, always seem to become MORE hellish? That’s when I saw Andy, Mary, and Danie, with their parents.

 

I heard Andy’s mom shout “Oh my god Andy, that’s where Liz is, oh no.”

 

I heard lots of collective gasps as we all exited the building, my friends among them.

 

That’s when I saw Steve. Crap! I had hoped he wouldn’t be here, and I prayed he was in a ‘good older brother’ mode

 

He had many different ‘modes’ among them are:

 

Abusive- He feels the need to punch me

 

Druggy- Basically he’s on drugs and or alcohol

 

Luster- Umm yeah he sets his eyes on someone and lusts after them, sadly its usually me, even if we are only step-siblings (The mom I am living with is a step-mom my real mom died) creepy…

 

And Brother- my favorite he actually acts like a big brother…

 

“Liz what the hell have you gotten yourself into, last Friday is going to be repeated!” Did he really need to scream that and since last Friday he had tied me to his bed and started undressing me, and slapping me, I’d rather not have a repeat, it seems Luster and Abusive have combined recently to equal Liz’s Torture.

 

Jace, who I just now realized was the one dragging me, started muttering something under his breath. That’s when we all stopped and the fifteen guys from before all pulled out knives and held them to each of our throats, causing everyone except myself, to whimper.

 

I mean I was kinda used to it what with Steve. I did shudder however, because Jace was REALLY close….

 

A guy then stepped outside “And now our agreement.” His voice I recognized to be the man over the loud speaker. He nodded his head toward us hostages, with knives pressed to our necks. He then continued “For every girl we release one of us will leave, and with the last I will leave, agreed?”

 

A police officer who looked in charge nodded sullenly.

 

“Well lucky girl number one, with dearest Kurt, please go on, any troubles and we’ll kill the rest of these young ladies.”

 

Jace exchanged a look with Felipe, and then Felipe and the girl he held with a knife, came over to me, pulling another knife (S**t how many did they own?), as Jace trotted off to the announcer dude.

 

Jace called out hastily, “Reed, need a word, uh real quick.”

 

So presenter dude, or um Reed and Jace exchanged a few words looking and pointing to me occasionally, then finally Reed puffed a sigh and another proclamation was made “Umm we will bring one girl with us to make sure we all escape,” He pointed at me, as I new he would, “Her, Liz”, using my name, aggravating.

 

I heard a loud huff coming from Steve’s direction “What the hell that’s my sister,” Almost sounding like he cared about me, probably more about my body…

 

The police officers also seemed agitated, but when Kurt walked past dropping off the girl and getting into a nondescript black van, nobody did anything. Others also seemed a bit upset and Clair who had recently appeared at Andy’s side seemed she like she may faint. That’s when Jace took up his position as knife holder again. And Felipe walked back to where he was standing, with his girl. (That sounds weird)

 

“Sorry, sorry gents, just a precaution, now Iven, you and your girl next,” Reed kept going down the list, and I began to realize all of these girls were either juniors or seniors none sophomores like me. I wonder why.

 

Finally only Felipe, and his girl were left, Reed announced his name, which I was beginning to find stupid, I mean you could find them only that much easier though I guess they were um vampires so that probably didn’t matter as much as it could.

 

They left, and now only Jace holding me with a knife secured under my neck, and Reed were left. Jace began dragging me to line emptied out for all the other guys to walk to the van through, instead of through crowd. There were police officers on either side and a few SWAT and FBI and even some Army people.

 

“Where will we be able to retrieve her? Here, preferably” The police officer in charge asked, as we walked towards the van.

 

“On the highway heading west bound, follow us we’ll give the signal.”

 

The PO didn’t seem like he agreed with this but didn’t comment any. I tried to glance towards my friends, and say goodbye, but if I moved my had to much that would likely result with blood, and blood vampires=NOT GOOD!!!! At all!

 

So Jace led me to the gigantic black van, and pushed me in so I was seated between Mike and Felipe, Reed and Jace got in the front. And just like that we were rolling away down the street, gone.
