Chapter 23

Chapter 23

A Chapter by Brina

Liz’s POV

I was startled awake, and found myself being carried down to the kitchen, shiz.

“What the hell?” I asked, but my voice was muffled, it was then that I realized a hand was placed on my mouth.

“It’s okay Liz,” That voice told me everything was anything but okay, Duane.

“Let go of me, Duane, leave me the f**k alone or I’ll scream,”

“But then you’ll never see dear Andy or Clair again,” He replied.

He didn’t seriously have Andy and Clair did he? I glanced at his face, and doubted he was lying, maybe if asked Mike for help in my mind?

As if Duane could read my mind, “He can’t hear your thoughts, if your wondering, that’s part of my gift, and it seems one of my other gifts did not work on you,”

The one time I need Mike, and this son of a b***h has to have a gift that makes it useless, but wait what, his gift? How many does he have? “By the way, you can’t control my body,”

He growled “I noticed,” It’s then that I realized we had reached the kitchen, and were going past it.

“Where are you f*****g taking me?” We were outside.

“To Trevor, and you sure do have a big vocabulary,” we passed a weird fountain.

“Any many languages, and let me down tu cancutemare,” we entered a forest, and I shivered lightly, cue in the fog, oh there it is.

“Ha, I knew that one, but no I’m not going to let you down tengo tu.” He slowed a bit.

“Yes I know you have me, but can’t you let me down? It’s not like I’m going to run off if you have Andy and Clair.” I said. I heard some rustling noises, and attempted to turn my head.

“Let her down Duane and no one gets hurt,” for the first time since I had arrived here, I was glad to hear Jace’s voice. He stepped out from behind some trees.

“Looks like our party is going to be cut short honey,” Duane said and then whispered in my ear, “if you ever want to see Andy and Clair again, you’ll meet me where this piece of paper says to,” And with that he stuffed what I assumed was the piece of paper in my hand, let me down, and ran off into the night. I quickly put the paper into my back pocket, so I could read it later.

Jace reached me, “You good?”

“Yeah, and I think that’s the nicest thing you’ve ever said,” I laughed shakily, okay so honestly I was freaked out. “How did you know where to find me?” Honestly curious, in a time like this.

He laughed, “Well I didn’t follow you, but I heard when you called him an a*****e in Spanish, though I have a few other things I would’ve called him, is no one awake at our dorm?”

“I don’t think so, or they probably would have heard, and maybe make at least a small try to stop him. Let’s hope,”

“Let’s, but it’s odd that Reed wasn’t there, I saw him when I left, and Duane sure did take you a strange way, especially since he knows I hunt here,”

I shivered, forgetting easily he was a vampire, “I think I know why, but since Mike will hear if I tell you, I’m not going to,”

He grimaced, “You have to,”

“No I truly don’t,”

“Well then I don’t have to take you home, oh and did you notice you’re all alone with me in the dark woods where no one would hear you if you screamed,”

I felt my blood grow cold, “No I hadn’t but thank you so much for pointing it out, now if you excuse me I’m going to try to find my way home.”

“Not until you tell me why he wanted to kidnap you only to let me stop him, and not even put up a fight?”

“How about, no,” And with that I began to walk away, bad idea, never set Jace’s temper off, just a safe and smart suggestion.

Jace grabbed my wrist, and when he pushed me against a nearby tree, and stood in front of me, I saw his animal side, just about to come out, “Tell me,” He snarled.

I shook my head, not really sure why I wouldn’t tell him, but something was compelling me not too.

That set him off, he pulled up his free hand and back handed me, hard.

I gasped and I felt as wet tears rolled down my face, followed by something warm.

“B*****d!” I shrieked, and clearly surprised by what he had done, stepped back, but still held on to my wrist.

“Liz? Liz! I’m so, so, so sorry!”

“Let go of me, you b*****d, and let me go the f**k back to the dorm, now!” I said deadly calm, definitely different from how I felt on the inside. I think I might just have to sick Felipe on him.

I wrenched my hand from his grasp, clearly surprising both of us, and turned and ran back in the direction I hoped was the dorm, leaving the stunned Jace behind.
