Chapter 25A Chapter by BrinaLiz’s POV
I noticed the glare Mike was giving me, and tried to quickly change my thoughts, but that brought the note up into my mind. I glanced once again towards Mike, saw he was no longer glaring, that his glance wasn’t even cast towards mine, because he was now glaring at Jace.
Nobody would notice if I went to the bathroom right?
“Go ahead,” Mike said, obviously hearing my thoughts.
I nodded and walked off, leaving the guys to talk or whatever the hell they did when I wasn’t there. I headed up the stairs to the bathroom, and once there I pulled the note out of my pocket and read it.
Dear Liz
If you are reading this then Duane has obviously served his purpose and delivered it safely to you, incase someone else opened this letter I shall not let my identity be known. If it truly is you, Liz, then you know that I have two things very valuable to you. Yes Duane was telling the truth, surprised I’m sure you are. Now if you ever want to see them again live and well then I suggest you follow orders.
First off, I want you to meet me, and I will exchange you for them, a trade of sorts, and I want you to meet me in the Deep Dark Forest, where Duane should have left you with our dear old predictable Jace.
I want you to meet me Monday, at 8:30pm and you need to be alone. It is most important you are alone, you will probably be able to go without Mike knowing since Duane has his ‘gift’, his only value to me. Now Liz we don’t want any problems so go to your first day of school, and then find a way to meet me, or I’m afraid your ‘items’ most dear to you, will be gone forever.
Yours truly
S.M.
I read and then re-read the note several times, and new without a doubt, I would do everything and anything in my power to save them. I felt a few tears drip down my face, as I wondered what would become of me, and why someone wanted me so badly.
I closed the note and slowly ripped it to shreds, making sure every piece went down the drain in the sink, then turned the faucet on until I was satisfied that no one could find a single remaining piece.
I had just turned of the faucet, when a knock sounded on the bathroom door.
I opened it, and there stood a concerned Mike, s**t.
“Why do I have the feeling that you’re hiding something big, something important?” Mike said as I squirmed guiltily under his gaze.
“Um, I uh, don’t know?” I said making it sound more like a question.
Mike gave me a look, “Then explain why you turned the faucet on and ripped air into shreds?”
Oh so he couldn’t see the letter in my mind, that’s good. “I saw a fly, and then I washed my hands,”
“There is no point in lying to a mind-reader,”
“There is no point talking down to me,” I shot back, “and let me go,” I said noticing he was blocking my path.
Mike looked shocked, but stepped back, I doubt he was rarely surprised by anything.
I stepped past him, realizing the only place to go, was his room, Jace’s, or Iven and Kurt’s, looks like I’m going to have some new roommates.
I walked to Kurt’s and Iven’s room, second guessing my plans, but might as well.
I knocked on their door, and Iven answered, not what I was hoping for since Kurt seemed ‘better’ out of the two. “Is it okay if I stay here for tonight?” I asked before I could chicken out.
Iven looked taken aback for a moment, but seemed to quickly recover, “Uh, sure, either Kurt or I can sleep on the couch, and you can have my bed,”
I gave him and appreciative glance, “Thanks Iven,” I said and then, well what the hell, I hugged him, probably not the best idea, but might as well ‘spread the love’ as they say, yeah, right.
Again I surprised him and we quickly broke away, he showed me the bed I could sleep in, and then he left to I guess tell Kurt or give me some privacy, either way.
I lay down and quickly fell asleep, not knowing my decision would make some people really pissed off at me, but oh well. © 2013 Brina |
