Beautiful

Beautiful

A Poem by Brittany Bostic
"

I thought about this while watching "Escobar: Paradise Lost" during the scene where Nick remembers Maria and her beauty while hiding out not knowing his fate.

"

Beautiful

She was beautiful.

She was so, so beautiful.

Once I started I couldn’t stop,

I was a goner from the moment our eyes made contact.

So when she started to slip away,

The pain I felt in my chest radiated,

It didn’t stop there,

I felt the pain in every spot of my body,

And would never forget that feeling

Tears stung my eyes,

For I could never see her beauty again.

I would never touch her beautiful long dark hair,

Never look into her beautiful chocolate brown eyes.

Shaking with fear of loss,

I fell to my knees.

There was nothing left of the women I loved,

Nothing left for me to cry over.

I did anyway.

When the sun had set for the third time I decided to stand,

And I wasn’t surprised,

When the pain didn’t leave me.

To this day,

All of these years later,

That pain that started in my chest and grew,

Never went away.

Actually it got worse,

I don’t cry anymore,

Don’t shake either,

Instead I sit and wish,

Wish and hope and will that one day,

I will see her beauty again.

Because she still makes my heart skip,

Still makes me smile,

Still makes me crave her gentle touch,

And I can never stop thinking,

She was beautiful.

Beauty is relative. Usually someone elses relative but relative. I mean Shakespeare said, Let us not to the marriage of true minds, admit impediments but never incest...oh, wait that's not how it goes...anyway...beauty is a concept...like truth...what you choose to believe as truth is truth to you...what you choose to find beautiful is beauty...Poe liked graves and ravens and fog...who am I to judge?

very much evident here that beauty is much deeper than skin...and the eyes always express so much---
beautifully expressed piece...in 4th stanza..i think you meant "left of the woman I loved"

but yes, quite expressive of a deep, deep love.
