You've Hurt Me

You've Hurt Me

A Poem by ElizabethRenee

There's a mark on my heart for every time you've hurt me,
I wear my heart on my sleeve to give all a chance to see.
There's no pain now, I'm deprived of emotions.
I don't live my life, simply go through the motions.

Alone in the dark, but I have no fears,
I feel your presence though you're no longer here.
You've left me now and that was my choice, my dear,
Knowing that, I will shed not a single tear.

I've fallen to my knees, and I've kneeled to the ground,
I've screamed mercy to your name when you were no longer around.
You can't hurt me now, you're gone from my life,
For now your large heart, holds my large knife.

When I read this the first thing I thought of was a break-up. I think a lot of people can relate to this because it is written about someone hurting you, and sadly and unfortunately, many people have been hurt at least once in their lives. Great write.
