The Leader

Beware of wolves in sheep clothing.

                                 The Leader

                     A Leader ran for office , ohhhhh the promises that he made.
                     and after he was elected , his promises began to fade.
                     A Leader ran for office , the change he made us feel.
                     and after he was elected , his change became surreal.
   A Leader ran for office , no secrets was his wish.
   and after he was elected , the truth was sorely missed.
   A Leader ran for office , questions would surely rise.
   and after he was elected , we soon knew our demise.
   A Leader ran for office , police state a secret goal.
   and after he was elected , freedom is what he stole.
   A Leader ran for office, mysterious was his past.
   and after he was elected , the mysteries were large and vast.
                     A Leader ran for a second term, public opinion will be no fear.
   So here we stand America , the same as a corn fed deer.

Great interplay between the before and after, switching back and forth each couplet. And I especially like the change of pace in the last couplet - it really highlights it to help make your point. I'm sure you did that purposely - just wanted to let you know it didn't go unappreciated ;)

The interweaving of prose and politic is truly genius in this piece. I loved every line of it; especially the "corn fed deer" one. This has insight into the truth of our great decision in November that shines out the importance to cast one's vote. Nice work here; truly inspiring.
