Part 3

Part 3

A Chapter by Burr the Story Sorceress

There is something wrong here, I know it. I'm not sure what, but there is something.

The morning after the girl's visit, I had still not seen or heard from the Master Worrin she had mentioned. After studying the wall outside my window, I decided it was totally climbable. The stone had natural groves and cracks that made good finger-and-toe-holds. I put all my things into my pack and drop it into the hedges below. I swung myself over the edge of the window sill and started climbing.

More than halfway down I ran out of groves and cracks. I studied the distance left and jumped. I landed well away from the hedges, ducking into a roll to make sure I didn't break any bones. I stood up and went to get my bag out of the bushes. I heard voices drift from around the corner of the house to my left. I hide in the hedge to wait until they pasted by. Two people came into my field of vision.

A tall woman who was more handsome than pretty with dirty blond hair in a tight bun and sharp blue eyes. The way she walked reminded me of a predator stalking prey. The only skin I saw was her face and as pale as paper. The rest of her was covered in black. Black dress, black boots, black gloves.

She was walking with the most beautiful man I had ever seen. He was as tall as the woman. His black hair was long and held back in a loose pony tail. His skin was pale, but not deathly so like the woman's. He wore black jeans that accented his leanness. His red shirt that was unbuttoned to show off a flat stomach and powerful chest. His black boots made no nose as he walked. His eyes were jade green and seemed to see everything. I dared not move for fear of giving myself away.

“Worrin,” the woman said as she put her hand on the man's arm to stop him. “Are you sure it is safe to keep that girl here? I don't like it.”

“Why not?” he replied. Worrin was the gorgeous man who that maid was so afraid of. “I see no problem.”

“It isn't really a problem. What is her purpose? Fresh blood? Fresh meat? A snack? She is endangering our family!”

Worrin turned to face her, which prevented me from seeing his face. I saw her's, though, and the fear there made me glad I couldn't see his. She cowered from him. “You have no say, Mother,” he hissed. “You well not question my decision. I have my reasons and I well not tell them to you. I am head of this family and you well respect my position. Be gone.”

The woman nodded earnestly and fled.

I held as still as I could, my heart pounded. I knew I needed to get out of this place. I knew these people weren't human, there was no way they were. Worrin took a few deep breathes as if to calm himself.

After a few minutes, he turned to the hedge and looked right at me. I was frozen in place by his eyes. He steps closer and kneels before me. He smiles, gentleness in his beautiful eyes. He held out his hand to me and I could not resist the pull that drew me to him. As soon as his hand surrounded mine my vision blurred. I tried to fight it, tried to keep the helplessness away, tried to stay awake. He gathered my now limp body in his arms and I felt him chuckle. He kissed my forehead and everything went black.

Now I'm back in my room. The window is locked from the outside and won't open. A tray is sitting on the desk with my lunch on it.

I am still trapped and I have no way out. I am afraid of Worrin, but I am attracted to him, too. The heart I had always thought of as cold melted a little when our eyes meet.

That is the scariest thing of all.

Ah! Loved it! The way you described him makes it feel like he's standing right next to me! Whew! I love the attraction thing you're going with and I'm itching to read more! I think the ending part definitley proved they're not human!
