Like Sand

Like Sand

A Poem by BuzzyB

There were a few stars
twinkling in my sky,
fighting the clouds
just to shine for me.

There were a few trees
that stood firm,
defying the sun
to keep me in their shade.

They were lakes
that refused to dry,
waiting for me
to turn up,sometimes,
at their shores.

They were flames
that bled for me freely,
fiercely resisting the wind
just to stay.

There was a time
when I had them all.
And I held them lightly,
still they stayed.

But now,
I clench my fists so tight,
yet they like sand
They keep slipping away.
