The First Poem I’d Written in a While

There is always a first,

Hopefully, never a last.

Poetry speaks to me

Of things I could never have.

Yet she told me of Love-

Both the good and the bad,

And I ran, deeply saddened.

Turning my loneliness to ash,

Feeling not the half of it,

Waiting for the crash

At last to hit, that bliss

I desperately crave.

Something is Different Now

Never the same twice-

I wept greatly

at the time of loss.

No tear was shed,

But I did hang my head-

Face in my hands,

And dying.

I Still Remember (and Couldn’t Forget)

In the grass, by the pond.

Water flows to the stream.

Rainbow skies, you and me,

How could this not be a dream?

Who Rules This World?

Caesar singing, still amuck

Bitter kings, their luck still tested

Blessed with land, and citizens

Bound to meet their grimmest endings

Still assured, at any moment

They will own the freedom stole

True to say, it doesn’t matter

If God is dead, they are as well.

I Used to be a Hater

Littered receipts

On the ground

Saw them blowing

In the wind

Strangely enough,

I didn’t think it

Odd, anymore

Books and Bricks

My bag is always

Too heavy

I don’t even know

What’s in it

Hopefully, stuff I need…

I’m just not so sure

Anymore

R.I.P. the Tree That Made This Book (Thank You)

Gave the tree a rest

I let it go, at that

To fill a page

Is strange

In the age of

The digital blitz

I especially enjoyed Books and Bricks. Something we can all relate to. The weight, it grows...
