I try. But im only human

Its hard to be a human being and try to protect someone at a much superior level. to love someone is a gift, to protect someone is a struggle.

I stare outside my window

at a world thats out of touch,

a natural calm surrounding

to be here, i long so much.

 

My bones they slowly weaken

my heart, it beats, but slow,

my fingers constantly tingle

from my eyes, the tears, they flow.

 

I only feel a fraction

of the pain that cuts her skin,

but she looks to me for guidence

i pull strength from deep within.

 

Her desperate eyes are calling

her arms long for my mould,

she's scared and she is worried

holding hands, her touch is cold

 

I lend a sleeve to wipe her tears

a shoulder to rest her head,

a few kind words, and a gentle kiss

as i lower her into bed.

 

I deeply love this women

but i still decide to lie,

I smile as she retires

and tell her "Its all alright"
