Protect you from myself

I could protect you from your scary thoughts,
And shield you from your pain.
I could shadow you when the lights to bright,
And shelter you from the rain.
Make you smile on unsettled days,
Be held in times of need.
I can protect you from these unpleasant things,
But I cant protect you from me.
I would kill the one that caused you pain,
Id steal their every breathe.
I believe god knows of my bad life,
But this here is my test.
He knows ill struggle on harder days,
But he will be there when I need.
He knows I can save you from these scary things,
Most things except for me.
Theres a game he plays he calls it life,
He dealt me the harder hand.
Ill play till im weak and off my feet,
I know that’s what he has planned.
The days, some may seem harder,
But some will work you will see.
One day I wont have to protect you.
Wont have to protect you from me.
