My Neighbor, Dear FriendA Poem by CherryMade best friends with my neighbor who moved not far but I still miss her a lot!
I’m glad you are my neighbor,
I wasn’t sure who I would get, A nosy inconsiderate prick, With a name that I’d forget? Or an eccentric Jesus lover, Shoving their faith down my throat? Or perhaps an “animal lover” With cat hair littering their coat. But no, I won the prize, You’re thoughtful, caring, and clean! And what you can see in me, Remains to be seen. We’ve grown close over time, With hot cocoa or chocolate shakes, Goofball behavior, dumb jokes, And whatever else it takes. You’ve been there for me, When I was blue And you better believe, I’m here for you too. And I’m happy for you that your life is growing! I support you in all, No matter where you are going! I know you’ll be close And you’ve not gone too far, But close is pretty relative To a person with no car. Not in walking distance, And don’t want to be a pain, Relying on your assistance, If I want to see you again. I have nobody else Outside of work. To deal with the randomness, That is my quirk. I will be lonely, That’s for sure. But I’m happy for you! And I want you to be secure. © 2021 CherryAuthor's Note
