The Stressors of Life

The Stressors of Life

A Poem by CJ
"

I wrote this as I was taking a break from homework. I think people honestly underestimate how stressful life is for teenagers, so hopefully this provides some insight.

"
Sprawled on the floor
Head down
Work flooding my brain
Numbers dancing around inside
Facts floating around inside
Stress filling my body
Tabs upon tabs filling my computer
Home
School
Friends
Boyfriend
How I look
How I act
I can't get enough time to create time for me
Band
Model UN
Drumline
Meetings
Books
So much to think about
Performances
Grades
So much to worry about
Do they know?
Do they understand?
Do they care?
Will they ever?
"Take it day by day," I tell myself
Not enough sleep
Dysfunctional school
Schoolwork
The stress builds up
Sleep
Something underrated until it is much needed
Math
Essays
Quizzes
Everything running through my brain at once
Family
Something I don't see enough of
Life
Stressful times fill it
Time
The one thing no one has enough of
But we can't get over the stressors of life
To enjoy the time we have
