I Know

I kind of wrote this on the spur of the moment. It encapsulates the feelings I have had to bear with family troubles that have nothing to do with me.

Words swirling around me

None of them nice

None of them caring

But none of them meant for me

Yet I still feel the weight of each one

Arguments everywhere

Pain rising in me

Pain for those hurt

And pain for those hurting

But most of all

The pain is mine

Knowing that my voice goes unheard

Is what carries the most pain

For I know that it will not change

So if you want to know why I am depressed

Listen to these words

Hear these words

These words that have been locked up for so long

Yet no one stopped to listen

No one stopped to care

A smile greets all faces

But that's not what I feel underneath

A certain sadness overcomes me

A certain sadness that I must succumb to

For no one knows the pain I feel

No one has stopped to understand

So if you read these words

You may find my truth

You may find why

Some people don't have

The same outward happiness

Shared with themselves on the inside

So if you read these words

And know the feeling I speak of

It is not that no one cares

It is that no one around you knows what it's like

To be in your position
