Adventures On Wheels

Adventures On Wheels

A Poem by Christine
"

Turn on the engine to a new day Of the amazing world at your feet.

"
There is was, on the drive, equipped and waiting to go
Freshly fuelled with food, gas and water,
Loaded little cubby holes in every available space,
With only the necessary, multi-functional objects,
Ever-ready and prepared for off-grid living.

Touring travellers, trundling off
To find the exciting adventures that awaited.
In the cosy, compact, convenient home on wheels
Ready for the great expanse of outdoors,
On long, winding roads that welcome
Intrepid, independent and inquisitive explorers.
High up and looking down on lovely locations.

Who would have wondered at the intense interest
In kerb-sides, pull-ins and car-parks,
Where the homely van could stop and rest,
And the meals on wheels would be heated on the hob,
During lazy days of staring out of the windows
At glorious sea and mountain views, with beckoning lakes and streams
Glistening and illuminated in the sun.

Just step outside and return home when ready,
Pull the blinds as daylight fades
And rest a while in peace and comfort,
Then throw open the door, breathe in the fresh air,
And turn on the engine to a new day
Of the amazing world at your feet.
