Are We There Yet

Are We There Yet

A Poem by Christine
"

We will arrive

"

Are we there,

When will we arrive?

Just around the corner

And the next and the next

Never there, but always here

The future is soon the past

Blink, you may miss it

Don’t turn away then

Pay attention, embrace it

Inconvenient, unexpected

Not how you think

No tidy ETA

An open window with a draught

So you close it

A creaky door, slam it shut

Never know

What’s beyond, in the distance,

Wait, we will arrive

Ready?

What is now was once the future. Perhaps we never really leave the now, but never fully appreciate it.
