Don't Try to Buy Back Yesterday.

Don't Try to Buy Back Yesterday.

A Poem by Carl R Nicolas
"

They look at you, count the lines, and coldly name the number. It’s hard—aging spares no one, stealing youth and pulling back the mask of time... Yes… aging has no mercy...

"
They look at you, count the lines, and coldly name the number. It’s hard"aging spares no one, stealing youth and pulling back the mask of time... Yes… aging has no mercy.
It loosens youth from your bones...
as if time was a number you should hide...

Many fight this, wasting fortunes to pretend the clock hasn't moved, trying to trick the world... Some run from it, pretending, trying to prove
they’re still untouched...

But why chase a shadow?
Behold your reflection not with fear, but reverence. You have survived decades... What if survival is the real beauty?
You have lived.
You have endured.
You have become... Embrace it...

Don’t chase yesterday,
stand in today with wisdom... And wear your years
like a crown no one can take...Don’t hide from the mirror,
rise in it... Don’t spend the remaining
Of your
existence trying to buy back a yesterday that was never meant to stay...You haven’t just grown older, you have prevailed... Some don't make it that far...
Carl Nicolas.

I feel like my journey has never been about me unless being a student of life makes the classroom benevolent. I just study the lessons and try to learn. But mostly, I feel it's about being good to your classmates and finding friends along the way. But I agree there's no future in the past and no heaven to be found, staring at the dirt. I enjoyed the read.

Hello Carl, your words contain much wisdom. We are all headed that way unless the reaper calls early. The aging process isn’t all negative, it also has its glints of gold. You just need to kniw where to look. Enjoyed the read.

And the same to you Carl.
Wise words Carl. We don't have a choice do we? We have to accept, go with it and make the most of what we have, so maybe survival is the real beauty.
