A Mother’s Love…

A Mother’s Love…

A Poem by Carl R Nicolas
"

"
We try to define it. We reach for dictionaries and poems, but language… language keeps failing to hold it still...

A mother’s love is immeasurable...

How do you hold it in words
when words themselves feel too small,
too fragile,
too human
to carry something so vast?

We try,
we call it strong,
we call it sacrifice,
we call it unconditional,
but every definition falls short,
like trying to gather the ocean
into the palm of a hand...

A force that operates in the deep, quiet depths, far beneath the surface of description... It begins before the child even takes their first breath, and it continues, unbroken, regardless of what that child becomes...

It feels priceless, and it feels infinite. But because it is constant in a way that most human love is not...

This love is not only felt,
it is carried.
In the body.
In the bones.
In the sleepless nights,
in the silent prayers,
in the quiet choosing...again and again,
to give,
even when there is nothing left...

It is a unique, divine force that surpasses all understanding. It is a selfless, enduring devotion that originates from the very profound physical, emotional, and existential truth of carrying a child within her own flesh...

A mother does not just care for her child. Her child is an extension of her own existence...

It is a bond that carries an instinct for protection, a fierce endurance, and a willingness to give... without ever looking for a calculation of return. It is, by nature, un-matched and unconditional.

A mother’s love lives beyond language...We revere it...

This love places the child’s welfare above all else, often embracing sacrifice and pain to ensure comfort and safety. It is not just a concept to be understood; it is a miracle of devotion to be witnessed. It is a spiritual bond, forged in the fires of creation...

And that is why celebrating mothers is not just a tradition. It is a necessary, vital reminder to never, ever take that devotion for granted...

To overlook it
is to overlook one of the closest things
we will ever witness
to Divine Grace walking among us...

So, while one day is set aside in the calendar, let us remember that a love this pure, this enduring, deserves to be celebrated every single day...

It is, simply... a miracle...

Today and always,
happy Mother's day to every mother, in every corner of this world.
Carl Nicolas.
