The Hunter of SightsA Poem by Caleb
His palms were salty and his eyes was curious As he strained his eyes to observe the sky. For it was the wonder that made him furious, Forever and ever, the question - “Why?” This sparkling abyss of gases and light Caused havoc in his world of all-knowing fashion. And he tried and tried with all his might To out-wit the sky with an undying passion. But then one twilight of an emerging night, As the blanket of black velvet crept, The vessel of the moon chugged onward to sight, While most of us laid and silently slept. But then more silence broke into the night, And one by one the stars appeared. And there he stood - the hunter of sights, With the golden compass as his spear. He saw the breaking of a beautiful red, Then a marvelous yellow like a hidden flower. This comet was gorgeous - that would be said, His eyes grew wide at the heavenly power. Then devoured a beauty as sharp as Excalibur. The heavens had opened to a passing traveler. © 2008 CalebReviews
