Old wise saying was "Silence is golden". I don't know if the words are true? Tonight old house is quiet. No shuffling of feet and loud voices. Children are gone. Old wife must keep me company.
Once my life was too busy. Kid needed lunch and attention for school. Little time to think. Today I miss the voices of laughter and the small morning arguments between the kids. Old ages teaches us. The father and daughter dances are the best days in a life. Hours spend at the bus waiting with your precious child is not too long. Today old photos and new silence is what I have left.
I learn too late. I loved awakening with my children. Hearing them talk of their days and their dear laughter. The days of McDonald kid meals and waiting in the parks till their unlimited energy was wore away.
Once I wished for silence. Today I love when kids are close. Today I love to see them and tell them. You gave me reason and purpose my children. Thank you. Coyote/John Castellenas
That is beautiful Coyote. All my children are now living on their own or going to school. The house can be very quiet. However, I see them frequently and you are right, I love their presence and the noise and even the occasional mess. I do miss their voices in the background and that of their friends. I too, miss standing at the bus stop. A beautiful and wistful piece of prose. Raising children is not an easy job but it is a magical one.

Ah! Silence! One of my favourite topics!
Sometimes we just want silence and nothing else and the other times we completely feel the opposite!
Beautifully written!

I never was blessed with children, I lost them before birth. So I share all of my nieces and nephews and now some of their kids with my siblings. Some times are great, others a bit tiring. I cannot run as fast as they do....Kathie Love them while you have the opportunity.

The older we get, the more we get into the routine. I see a lot of couples that put, cell phones, cigarettes, casinos, etc. before feeding their kids. My sister's adopted son from Korea and his wife are this way. Never at church unless there is a free dinner. Kids at Grandmas most days for food. They say no money for food. She must weigh 350, so she is eating somewhere. I should not have spouted off.
Very deep and meaningful piece.
Funny how sometimes we wish for silence, then we finally get it, and it feels lonely.
All we wish for is the noise to come back.
Silence truly is deafening.
Beautiful piece :)

Thank you for reading and the comment. I do appreciate.
This was absolutely beautiful and such a breath of fresh air. Silence is golden until it actually arrives and then we find it is does not hold the value we expected.
Silence is golden- truths lie in that saying to some extend, and in some circumstances. Silence in that angle; we should be letting our minds to moments when we do not need to speak i.e, venturing verbally into un-paying issues, like unnecessary doubting, shouting and other verball conflicts.............. Silence in your state is not a golden, it's a piercing echoe, so painful and searing... I love this poem, more ink to your pen my friend.

Thank you for reading and the comment. We learn with living. New life make old life worthwhile.
Absolutely mesmerising. You have tugged at my heartstrings. The love between parents and children cannot be measured. I can feel your emotions. I can feel your pain.. Your longing for them. We understand the worth of something only when we lose it. " don't we ?. Beautifully penned :)

Thank you and you are right. Time goes by too quickly.
This is beautiful. I can't exactly understand, not having kids yet but I know I will. I'm at the point where those days bring me joy out of the fact that I was the child when they were around. So free, so full of life.
