    One more day my love

I waited for you. You requested me to come and wait for you. Every night at 2 am. I watched you dance your final dance for desperate men and I watched you in black lace and your soft silk stocking. You would send me secret smiles, but I knew. You took of the lace slowly wishing to be elsewhere and took off the silk stockings falling into the words of the Bob Seger "Night moves".  I wrote in my journal.

            ---
                    So beautiful
I wanted the sea, I loved Texas highway 35 and I wanted you.
My damaged angel. I see more than flesh and bone.
I see ripple of secret hope and your need need for laughter and conversation.
I found you in the Purgatory Inn of disappointment and regret.
I made you laugh when I told you. Dear Joan of Arc.
You can't bleed forever.
Dead life and giving-in and giving-up.
Leave us alone.
We need love near and kind voice to make us okay.
----
Last year I gave you a poem and you asked me. Dear Poet. "Why do you waste time with me? I don't like the face I see in the mirror. I gave-in and I gave-up. " I smiled and kissed her forehead and lips. I read her the poem.

----
                    The final place
Naked and kneeling like beggars. We are dear Amie.
We fondle and touch the last emotions of need.
My kind and beautiful lady.
All of us will taste dirt and live and die in the lies that life showed us.
No-one is clean and all of us are seeking reasons to live and die.
Please pretty lady. Tell me what you need?
Please show me real face and allow me to hear real voice.
I have danced with the Devil and I know.
The Devil always win dear Amie.
---

Now you and I have learned. We learned highway 35 will take us to the sea. We have learn broke people need coffee and kindness. You taught me to dance in the midnight hours and I taught you gentleness and kindness.
----
                             Lady
Please take off your shoes and walk with me by the sea.
I want to dance with you.
I want to dance lightly and softly on the soft Texas sand.
I want us to move as one with the song of the sea and the wind.
I need to feel your body near and your face against my neck.
I want to smell your skin and your hair.
I need to hear your laughter and to listen to your dreams.
I want to hear you whisper to me.
Johnnie. I love you.
----

This has reduced me to a state of melting jello. I can't even choose where to start.

"All of us will taste dirt and live and die in the lies that life showed us." That is as good a place as any. This resonated so deeply with me. It is a sacred truth and you tell it plainly, without remorse or regret without anger or hopefulness. It is simply a law of the universe.

I am an avid keeper of journals, always have been. The frame of this work speaks to me at my most vulnerable levels - those secrets best kept between ink and parchment and sealed between to covers of a book. I felt as if I myself were sitting in that club, writing these words, watching her dance, seeing more than anyone else in the room and hoping for even greater. I was also the dancer, hiding those same insecurities and beliefs, oblivious to all around me, putting on a good show, taking it all off without revealing a single thing. That you desired to see beyond actually brought tears to my eyes.

The ending is what a great romance ought to be. Had it been my work, he would have peddled off to another damaged doll behind another glass case. But this, this is the story of a love, a perseverance. This, my friend, is an epic tale, told in a single page and more powerfully than Homer ever had any hope to write.

In short.... I really, really liked it. My favorite of your offerings thus far.

First of all... this is SOO descriptive! By descriptive, I mean, you describe everything so well and explain the poem really well! Not many writers can do this! You have talent Coyote! :)
My favorite lines were...
"Please show me real face and allow me to hear real voice.
I have danced with the Devil and I know.
The Devil always win dear Amie."
They made me grin and smile :)
