Truth or dare?

She offered me a smile and a hello.
I was besieged by her beauty and
she asked me to dance the Texas two-step and I agreed.
I held her close and told her, I am the lucky one.

She smiled and she whispered,
thank you for the dance. You are too kind and too generous.

Many out-laws and dangerous ladies in these dance halls of Texas,

you can be playing truth or dare?

She kissed my cheek and whispered. Soldier, I like your style.
Real men don't rush into the fire, they allow the flame to grow and become strong.
Today I'm the fortunate one to have met you.

I kissed her forehead and I told her. I'm the lucky one.

                        My sweetest friend

I was the dark poet and you were the prettiest flower of old Monterey,

I was seeking the good death and you were seeking the Winter storms to suicide board.

You told me, all of us live in sin, we will die in sin.

We are just shadows dancing upon the earth for a moment,

We will be like the sea,

know dark tides, great storms and the peaceful sea.

We will rarely show our real face and the shadows of mistakes made,

Can kill the innocence of our youth.

War, life and regret,

All of us shall know.

We must go to the sea.

Pray to the moon and the stars for forgiveness.

Unravel the follies made and become better.

I told her.

My sweetest friend,

My kindest teacher,

When you are near,

The world is sweeter and more wonderful.

Thank you for befriended me and saving my soul.

------------------------------------------------------------------

                   Lake Huron

Misi-zaagiing, Ojibwa tribe called her the quiet storm.

Lake Huron, never tamed and always beautiful.

Blessed and ancient people knew,

The great lake was life,

Respect her, drink of her. Be generous in prayers for her gifts.

Misi-zaagiing, she can be the dangerous storms,

Place of serenity and a miracle of the Gods for us,

Who love the forest, the river, the lakes and the clean air.

These three poems, although different in content are joined in an ephemeral way to each other.
I would look at the number of times the words 'and' or 'I' pop up. Maybe combine some sentences together to shorten them up. i.e.

I was the dark poet and you were the prettiest flower of old Monterey,

P.S. Lake Huron is one of the coldest bodies of water I've ever swum in. Lake Erie the most dangerous.

Thank you Corset. I did enjoy Texas. I could use a month in Austin.
I think these three poems are lyrical, musical and so, so beautiful. They deserve to be published Coyote. Your words are mesmerizing and romantic chants and whispers. Your lines wrap around the reader and enchant them. I wish you much luck with the publishing journey my friend! (Just a suggestion- I self-published with blurb.com and sell through amazon.com.; also you might try submitting to magazines first)

last line of first poem would leave out the second "I"---unnecessary....but otherwise...you have done well to edit yourself on all three...and they are moving pieces, all of them...'

Thank you Jacob for reading and the help. I do appreciate.
The first two have your inimitable way with romantic liaisons and are filled with your usual gentle but free spirit. The Lake Huron poem has been educational and is lovely.
