The dandelion

The dandelion

A Poem by Coyote Poetry
"

A happy Spring day

"

The first dandelion

The streets are empty,

the houses are quiet.

I wonder where are the children?

I clean-up the Winter waste and I smiled.

One beautiful dandelion had appeared through the Winter leftover.

I stood by her.

I told the dandelion,

thank you for making me smile.

The dandelion stood alone today and I knew now.

Spring is here,

maybe the days of Spring can bring better days for us.

Dandelions, a splash of welcome colour. Folklore says don't pick dandelions or you'll wet the bed. I say don't pick dandelions because they are a burst of sunshine to light up your day. Better left where they can be enjoyed. Thank you Coyote for this uplifting poem. Happy Easter and stay safe my friend.

Thank you my friend. I love the dandelions. Today in Michigan, no dandelions. Snowing.
I actually adore dandelions. Their roots go deep and they have a natural beauty that is to be celebrated. I still recall how, like so many children, my sister and I would sometimes pick dandelions and blow the spores into the air and make wishes. I also love daisies, used to make daisy chains as a child and my sister and I would compete to see who could make the longest chains.

Thank you for sharing such a lovely and uplifting poem in these troubed times.

Beccy.

In spite of being a landscapist.. I love dandelions! Why gasp at their glorious yellow birth?! Why fling up arms in horror as a breeze carries their seeds all over the place. They're just leaving Time and still more Time to Humankind: a reminder that there's no stopping it.. whatever. Such wonderful words, a lovely poem - freedom to grow and share. Few other things or people, come to think of that.. do that so, why complain. :) Not just words, John.

you write a nice seasonal scene.
i love dandelions... little orbs of delicate & translucent downy seed tufts.
as kids we used to pick them & have fun blowing on the heads to watch the seeds fly away.
