Memorial day poetry- Soldier onA Poem by Coyote PoetryHappy Memorial day. May 31.Soldier on.... (May-day poetry twenty-six) Memorial day is coming and I will put coins on the fallen soldiers grave stone. In the early morning before the people come on Memorial day. I will burn white sage for them, lost too soon in old and new wars. I will stand with other soldiers, old and young. We will discuss our missed friends and the good days we had. The WW2 vet will tell me. “Soldier on Johnnie, we must live for our friends, who cannot. We must ensure they are not forgotten.” I hope the people of the USA understand. Freedom isn’t free, it cost spenty. Please don’t give freedom away without a fight. John Castellenas © 2021 Coyote PoetryAuthor's Note
