Poem for the book. The Island.

Just a song…

Pretty girl asked him for a dance. He saw the prettiest gal he ever seen and he told her. Would be my pleasure. She smiled and she told him. Merci my kind soldier. The tire soldier need new memories to make him forget yesterday hell. We need sweet wine, warm kisses and slow dances. My name is Nicole. Do you remember me? I was your sweet dream once.

He looked into her eyes of wild sea and he told her. My dusty mind, does remember you. You tried to save me once and I went to war and I learn. Life is seconds, minutes and hours. Nothing isn’t guarantees and we must grasp at the beautiful things. Dear Nicole, I am so damn tire. I have become the lonely man, I write tales from the shadows now only. Old heart had turn gray.

She smiled and kissed his face like a child. She took him to the dance floor and she whispered. Johnnie, Johnnie. You loved war, you love drink and you love to write. And he forgot to live. I told you a million days ago. I will take care of the poet who wanted to taste and feel everything. The damn souls who cannot find peace, we are. Please hold me tightly and make me smile. Tonight, we have. We must enjoy. Tomorrow you must drink less, write more and you must write the truth. War is s**t and love is everything.

He brought her closer. I remember you, I remember the Island dear Nicole. Can I come to you now? I have learn enough. She smiled and she told him. Your Hemingway life had just began. You have more wars, more heartbreak and you will save many. Remember my Johnnie. You save one person, you learn happiness and if we save many. We can learn peace. In time, you and I will gather at the Island. Do midnight dances for the moon and show the gods. Love can be.

We went to my motel room and she held me tightly, our bare skin touching and she caressed me softly. She sang soft words to allow my tire mind to rest. I fell asleep in her arms and in the morning. I was alone and she left me a note.

Johnnie, Johnnie. I am always near. If you need me, tell the moon, tell the stars, tell the sea. If you need me, I shall find you. And you and I. Will see forever into the sky, the sea. One day, you will know. The Island will call you and I will be waiting for you my dark poet. You must learn to see the world with better eyes. Leave the Army and save someone. All my love Nicole.

An amazing story in this beautifully told poem. Indeed war is s**t and love is everything. Your words paint an enduring fleeting love story that is filled with wisdom for the ages my friend.

Everyone should experience a Nicole. To help us live for the moment, for the hour, the day, indeed a lifetime - to have us forget the trials of war. Have us enjoy the delights of love and loving.
Very nicely done .
Take care - Dave
