A immortal love once...

I had a immortal love once...
I told the whiskey glass. The worst sin done, is something we wanted to do and we didn't do. Most of us learn too late. Words can kill off friendships. Better to hold silence when anger steal our mind, our words.
What will we remember? I believe we will remember the sweet kisses of a pretty and kind gal, the laughter of children and the voices of the people, we loved.
In Texas, I was Doc Holiday. In California, I was Bukowski and in Michigan. I am the grandfather, quiet writer and seeking less. What will I be tomorrow?
I wrote to a notebook. I didn't know kisses could kill you. My once rebellious heart had learn. Lovely and kind girls cannot be forgotten. They are tattoos on your mind and heart forever.
I had a immortal love once. Her champagne voice stole my thoughts, her charm made me wish for one more kiss and to look into the folly of her eyes again and again. She made me see the sea and the beauty of life near.
She was a Pacific mermaid and she loved to put flowers in her hair. She was a wild cat who loved doing things her way. Her rebellious mind made me adore her more. She loved wanderlust, free days and she hated locked doors. She was endless mystery and a delight to my heart.
I loved the rustic woman who loved her herbal garden, her morning coffee and six o'clock walks on the beach. She didn't want everything and she told me often. All we need is some good books to read, strong coffee and wonderful songs to listen to. My home is big enough for us. I have a comfortable bed, room for two. The sea is near and I will keep you safe.
I left the kind lady for war and I never returned to her. Now the old man told the whiskey glass. You will regret what wasn't said or done.

So true regrets lie in the things
we didn't do rather in the things
we did..i thinks many can relate
as to having those types of
regrets; we play many parts as
life unravels us..i like the grandfather
in Michigan as he has found the true
self and joy of being with his children

lovely write John

Oh that whiskey glass has all the time and patience in the world to hear the stories we tell it.

Thank you for reading and the comment. I do appreciate.
Indeed, we do regret opportunities not taken. We always wonder "what if". In a lifetime, we go through many changes, but what never changes is memory. No one to share them with but the whiskey glass...and it has unlimited patience to hear your regrets. This could be part of your autobiography, John. Well written. Lydi**

Hello dear Lydia. You are right and in a long life. We will regret many things.
Most of us use hindsight 2020 to look back on what we did wrong with our relationships; however that doesn’t really help us: we must excuse our mistakes and move on…..we may remember some as being lovely and others not, but what the matter…..
Best, B.
