Merry Christmas- The Parting Glass..A Poem by Coyote PoetryBeen a rough year. I lost all my mentors, I lost many kind voices.Merry Christmas- The Parting Glass... The Native Americans believe. The grandparent, the elders are the teachers of the children. The children are the future. Be careful what you say. The voices of the Grandparent are the hearts of the children. Was a hard 2021. My friends, my mentors, my teachers had left my world. The old-timers are in a better place and I hope one day to greet again, laugh with again. See their smiles. I am a grandfather and I watch my grandchildren daily. I show them the forest, we have lake days and do great adventures. I try to have patience for them and like my mentors, a my safe place for them to rest. Merry Christmas my friends and I hope great blessings, good health and a safe new year. Remember the children are watching us, we are the teachers of the future. We must show concern, kindness and love. Today I say names of so many lost in 2021 and I feel sadness. But I know, one day, we shall gather. Talk of grandchildren, talk of life and remembered. We had a blessed life and good friends. John Castellenas © 2021 Coyote PoetryAuthor's Note
