Three fingers of the whiskey...A Poem by Coyote PoetryFor dear Nightbirde. I hope and pray she is dancing and singing in heaven.Three fingers of the whiskey... I had a bad night. I read dear Nightbirde/ Jane Marczewski left our world on 20 Feb. I fell in love with this beautiful young lady. Her songs, her words gave me the understanding. Life is more than me. She had the face of a angel, her eyes were filled with love and kindness. She loved life, she loved God. I burned sage and I prayed for her often. Tonight I bought a bottle of Hooligan whiskey and I told God. Why did dear Jane suffer? I pour three shots of the whiskey into my shot glasses. I lifted the first shot to sky and I told the night. Please lord of life and death. Please accept dear Jane into heaven. I am glad her pain is gone and she left my world a better place. I drank the whiskey.. I lifted the second shot of the whiskey and I asked God. Why do the good people suffer? I don’t understand. Maybe the old saying is true. The good die young. I drank the whiskey. I lifted the third shot of the whiskey and I told the night. Dear Jane, dear Nightbirde. I know a angel in heaven now. I hope one day to sit with you. I would tell you. The world is less without you. Had been a hard two year. I lost many to cancer and my world is more empty without the voices of the kind people I knew and I loved. Tonight dear Jane, dear Nightbirde. I burned the sage and I watched the smoke rise-up to the moon. I tell the stars and the moon. I hope you are singing for your Jesus. I do miss you. John Castellenas © 2022 Coyote PoetryAuthor's Note
