A Poem by Coyote Poetry
"

For my grand-daughter...

"
                                                Mia
I am very lucky. My kind daughter allowed me to watch my grand-daughter, Monday to Friday. 7am-4pm.
I work part-time at night to ensure I have the energy to watch her.
She is 18 months old, with eyes of hope, with eyes of questions and eyes of tomfoolery.
She loved the song and dance songs on the YouTube. I am dancing with her for hours. And I enjoy.
She is my go-go baby girl. She wants the library, the park and the lake.
I became a better grandfather than father. I didn't know. Children grow like weeds. You must make time for them.
I have five grandchildren and my four children are doing well. I have good health and the bills are paid.
Baby Mia, only loved her grandpa. We sing together all-day. I create a place for her to play and relax. She knows she is safe.
I try to be like my grandparent. Be the person the children can come for help. A place for the grandchildren to run freely with no fences. A fun place to be.
In my Mia's eyes, her smile. I know what love can be...

Well, hells-bells, Coyote, with this poem you have brought a tear to my eye and a knowing smile to my face. You make great poems and a wonderful grandpa. I'm sure. :)

Thank you my friend. We must make time for the grandchildren. Even if a few weeks in the Summer.

That is the best. Thinking of our grandparents and trying to measure out that love, patience and life lessons you can only get from them. I couldn't be more happy for you and go-go.

Thank you dear Patricia.
Really nice that you get time to be with your little granddaughter. It sounds as though you have great fun together and there is an abundance of love. I think your daughter and granddaughter are lucky too. They have you, and you know what the right priorities are. Family are everything. Children are like sponges, they absorb so much. You are in a position where you can have a very positive impact on Mia's life Coyote. Fabulous write.

I think perhaps we may learn lessons from being parents and resolve to learn from any mistakes we made then when we become Grandparents the second time around. Your words suggest she adores you already even at her young age and you are doing a wonderful job keeping her happy and safe. Enjoy these times, Coyote. Children are a blessing in their infancy. And yes, the eyes always tell the truth. 💛

Gee
So many folk say they enjoy being a grand parent much more than a parent. My only child, daughter, is only 21 and has yet to settle down so my grand parenting days could be years away.
There is so much love in your words.
Hope you are well my friend
